Music lessons across the federation are delivered by class teachers every week, with instrumental teaching provided by Inspiring Music. Class teachers use Sing Up to teach a vocal curriculum. Music supports children to build on a variety of skills, and lessons cover composing, understanding, music analysis and performing. Children have the opportunity to learn various instruments throughout their journey, Barnwell Music provide Peripatetic Teaching for guitar and piano, they also run the school choir which takes place after school.
We also offer extra-curricular activities, including participating in Young Voices concerts (from year 3 upwards), holding music sharing assemblies and whole-school music workshops.

Ampthill Town Learner Band 2026

As we know, learning to play a musical instrument is, for many children, a key to developing confidence, knowledge and skills that can provide lots of benefits throughout later life.

In this context, Ampthill Town Band is pleased to announce that it will begin a Learner Band in January 2026, sponsored by Ampthill Town Council. The purpose is to support brass musicianship amongst young players and help to recruit young players into Ampthill Town Band as an important part of the area’s cultural heritage.

The Ampthill Town Learner Band will be a welcoming and supportive ensemble designed to help musicians grow their confidence and skills in a fun group setting.
